Then. Now. Next. Generation Z – Faith in a Digital World

April 12, 2026 | Gary Holmes

Generation Z has grown up in a world of smartphones, social media, and constant

connection. They are often deeply aware of issues like identity, belonging, and

justice, while navigating a culture filled with noise and competing voices. This week

we explore how faith speaks into a digital world and why authenticity matters so

deeply to this generation. Through Paul’s encouragement to Timothy—“Let no one

despise your youth”—we are reminded that young voices matter in the life of the

church. Generation Z challenges us to live our faith honestly and visibly in the world

we inhabit today.

Theme: How the youngest generation experiences faith amidst constant

digital connection.

Focus: Identity, belonging, social justice, and authentic living of faith.

Witness: A Gen Z young person shares how faith is expressed online, in

school, and in their community. (Youth ministry)

Scripture:

1 Timothy 4:12 – “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are

young, but set an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.”

Psalm 119:9 – “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By

living according to your word.”

Key Takeaway: Age does not limit the ability to witness God’s work;

authenticity and courage in faith matter at every stage.
