There is great need in Honduras.
We strive to bring hope and support to our brothers and sisters in
Christ there, not only financially, but through our prayers and
presence. Our group spent four days of hard, manual labor working on
the new parsonage, making concrete, carrying bricks, laying bricks,
sifting sand, pushing wheelbarrows full of concrete, and a lot more.
Boy did we love it! The parsonage will house the pastor and his
family. It’s about 70% complete. When it’s completed, work will
begin on the church.
Perhaps more important than the
work we did, were the new friends and relationships we made. Their
hospitality, generosity and love of Christ were an inspiration. We
worshiped with them on Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening, in
addition to sharing prayers and devotions throughout the week. We
hope that the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay will continue
to work with the congregation in Talanga as a sister church. There
will be a need for our support for many years to come to help this
local church grow to become a rock for Christ in their community.

“The
people were so friendly and loving. I was struck by how little they
have and how fortunate we are. There were times when I thought I
couldn't lift another shovel or push another wheelbarrow of cement,
but with God's help, I did. ‘For mortals it is impossible, but for
God all things are possible.’ (Matt. 19:26) I really feel that God
gave us the strength and courage to turn a little step into a real
blessing for them and for us.”
