    Penny Project

Most people will not even bend over to pick up a penny off of the ground, and who can blame them, they are considered worthless.

“A modern penny simply isn’t worth enough to worry about. In 1940, an average one-pound loaf of bread sold for eight cents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That means that a penny in those days bought enough bread to make a good-sized sandwich. These days, a penny doesn’t buy much more than a bit of crust.” (New Yorker March 2008)

What to do you ask? How about donating them to the Aids Orphan Trust in Africa. Our church is trying to gather One Million Pennies, and we are close to our first 100,000 pennies. There is a jar in lobby of the church for you to place your pennies.  Or you can start your own "jar collection at home or at your office as many of our members are doing, and bring in your collections to the church office Monday - Friday 8:30 - 4:00 p.m.
