Stewardship Moments
We feel that we have been
blessed and believe that sharing, by donating time and money, is the
right thing to do. Supporting the work of the church is one way to
give something back to God. God provides for us all in one way or
another but leaves it up to us to share with those in need. We are
thankful for all the things our church has to offer to its members
and others in the community, the nation and the world. It’s easy to
contribute whether through our weekly pledge, special mission
opportunities, hands on service projects, and countless other ways.
So giving doesn’t have to be only monetary; there are so many ways
to give that it’s just a matter of finding the right opportunities
for you and jumping in.

I
believe in a life of sharing my talents and wealth in ways that
sustain both the Earth's creatures and our human communities,
including the church. I have successfully remained at peace by
seeking and maintaining a positive outlook, being aware of the many
small gifts given to me each day, remembering the sacrifices of
those who came before me, while giving back in a heart guided way.
The needs of humanity are overwhelming, caused in part by greed and
the lack of community concern for true solutions. Jesus taught
humility, support for the less fortunate, and love of our brothers
and sisters. He lived his life knowing that he would be required to
give much more than any of us, yet he did not refuse to openly share
all that was available to him. Am I willing to give in like manner?
Are you? Help me expand the peace of the Lord throughout the world.

We
are excited to be able to support our church through giving
financially.
The church community has made a difference in our lives in so many
ways. Our
children benefit from the Sunday School, youth and music programs.
We are
amazed by the opportunities for adults and families to study, serve,
and grow
spiritually. By giving financially to the church we can ensure that
the
ministries to families and the outreach to the community continue.
By giving we
are supporting so many worthy causes that serve our family, the
community, and
even missions in the world. This is a way that we can be God's
hands and feet
reaching out to others.

On
Giving –
All of us experience challenges in our lives: illness, loss of
loved ones,
etc. How we handle these problems is important. Cami Walker
overcame MS,
alcohol and drug problems, and depression by focusing on what’s
right in life
instead of what’s wrong and by giving to others. God speaks to us
and uses us
in many different ways. “The best way to find yourself is to lose
yourself in
the serving of others.”

“Give
your church offering to the general budget,” my mother always told
me.
“Somebody has to pay to keep the lights on.” In a time when
designated
giving is on the rise, my mother’s advice seemed antiquated, and yet
I have
recently seen this message in a new light. By providing support for
the
overall budget, I impact all things in the church, and I can decide
where I
think my giving was applied. After a great choir anthem, I tell
myself that
MY donation paid for that music, almost like somebody stood up and
stated,
“This anthem is underwritten by Craig and Kathy Walker.” I can
imagine I
pay for one hour of Eric Rose leading the youth on ASP or Pastor
Wiley
visiting a shut in. Kathy and I have gladly committed to give to our
church,
and we have received countless blessings in return.
I encourage all people of the church to pledge their financial
support.
And why limit your giving to one or two missions
when you can support all of them through your pledge?
Think
about it!
