Purpose Statement
The purpose of the United Methodist
Church is to grow persons as deeply committed followers of Jesus
Christ who LOVE God, CARE for each other and SERVE in the world.
Position: Full time, clergy or lay
Team Leader: Pastor of Discipleship
Team Leader for: Director and Assistant
Director the Carpenter’s Shop Christian Day Care, Tree of Life
Nursery School and Child Care workers
Position Summary: The Director of
Children and Family Ministries will be responsible for the Christian
education ministries (or discipling ministries) involving children
from birth through sixth grade and their families. This person is
responsible for the development/oversight of programs,
opportunities, and relationships that will assist children and
families growing as deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities:
Some present responsibilities include
- Sunday school for children from birth to
grade 6, primarily at the 9 and 10:30 am worship services.
- Children’s program during Wednesday Night
Live.
- Vacation Bible School or equivalent.
- Special ministries such as the Blessings
from Above Ministry to new parents.
- Outreach to children and families.
- Fellowship, education, mission events for
children and families.
- Support ministries for children and family
ministries such as costuming, craft supplies, technology.
- Christmas Eve worship services at 3 and 5
pm.
- Support and encouragement ministries for
parents of children.
- Acolyte Ministry.
- Coordination of ministry with other staff.
